The Windows Client & Core Development team in LCA has an immediate opening for an attorney who will help provide day-to-day legal support to the Windows Experience group within the Platforms and Services Division. The Windows Experience group (â??WEXâ?) is responsible for the development of the technologies and solutions that largely make up the Windows Client experience, including user interface, device support, graphics and media as well as Microsoft Internet Explorer. This attorney will have frequent contact with a number of other business groups and LCA teams focused on Microsoft Windows, as well as outside partners, customers and vendors. This position is based in Redmond, WA.

Primary Responsibilities:
Partnering with the Business: Help support the Windows Experience group and help support the Internet Explorer team. This attorney must be able to analyze and address complex legal, business and strategic issues affecting Microsoft products and services. These issues typically include antitrust and regulatory compliance, general commercial law, contracts, intellectual property and licensing, and marketing & communications. In addition, this attorney must help provide front-line transactional support for WEXâ??s business and technology initiatives related to Windows 7 including user interface, music and video media, desktop and graphics, and accessibility.
LCA Collaboration: Collaborate with LCAâ??s Windows Business and Online Services teams, as well as with LCAâ??s Antitrust, Corporate & Regulatory Affairs, Intellectual Property and Licensing, Litigation, and Worldwide Sales teams on legal issues related to the design, development and marketing of Windows technologies. This attorney must be client-focused, responsive, action-oriented and possess good cross-group collaboration skills.
Client Training: Provide client education and training on relevant legal issues to business teams.
LCA Department Initiatives: Help manage outside counsel and help ensure efficient use of outside counsel budget.

Required Skills and Experience: The person filling this position should have:
Excellent academic credentials and a minimum of 4 years as a practicing technology licensing attorney.
Strong preference for a candidate who has significant experience with antitrust and consumer issues including privacy and security.
A deep understanding of software development practices.
Excellent analytical, cross-group collaboration and communication skills.
A track record of consistently delivering results by managing resources effectively, and prioritizing projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong contract drafting, organizational and negotiation skills.
A can-do approach to problem-solving focused on achieving results.
Team player with the ability to work with a diverse set of personalities.
